WHO WE ARE
We are a band of brothers, joined together by a love for Jesus, golf, and community. We are passionate to use each of our platforms and skillsets to help grow the Restoration movement.
OUR STORY
What started out as an invitation in August by God to dream of a golf course on this beautiful land in TN has turned into an invitation to dream of reformation and restoration in the golf community. A few friends have joined the vision, and I'm praying thousands more will.
Restoration Club was also birthed through my own restoration journey. 3+ decades of depression, anxiety and attention disorders stemming from trauma of sexual abuse, abandonment, loss, paramount academic and career "failures", I finally turned some corners through restoration. I have much more healing to encounter, but I know I'm not the only one to suffer, and I want all to experience the power of restoration through Jesus.
It takes an army to stay standing through all life throws. But culture is trying more and more to isolate us all. And we won't have it. While online communities have great purpose, the true definition of community is togetherness. People living and walking life together. Sharing in each other's stories. Oh, the power of stories. It's why I started shooting. It's why I started writing via Secret Life of Dad, it's why storytelling will be a cornerstone of Restoration Club.
As will our events. Our aim is to provide a very different golf event than what we've all experienced before. The goal is simple: bring people together through golf events, to encounter restoration from Jesus, through experiences amongst a community of people and their stories. These events won't be about hangovers or bucket list bragging rights, though the venues will be stellar. But the encounters will be interstellar (not sure if that makes sense but it's a good film).
We have dreams (and some plans) for our first event in Q1 2022, a couples retreat at Streamsong, father/son events, all with the hopes of restoring broken relationships. Some incredible speakers including pro athletes and artists…
Play is vital to our spiritual, emotional, physical, mental and relational health. So play, we shall. Events will be a core part of what we do. But it won't be who we are...
With most events, the fun ends when the lights go out. And you're left wanting and needing more. We want to see people leave our events changed. To go back to fatherhood, husbandry, sonship, and workmandeering renewed, full of hope, healed, healthy, and equipped. And yes, we will want everyone to come back for more, but bringing others with to experience what they experienced.
And the dream is not dead to own our own property. To restore, or build, a property to perfectly suit our shenanigans. It's something I pray daily about, because oh the stories we could tell while slinging shovels. If you know someone with 100 acres or 100 thousand dollar bills, we will put it to very good use in no time.
We have some ideas for gear in the works. Some good gear. Because we wanna support our friends in the industry, give back to their causes, and outfit our friends to help spread the message.
The dreams are big. Very big. And if you ask my wife, she'll be the first to tell you I'm not a dreamer. I've spent my whole life simply trying to survive. Including this past week. including today. But when God says dream, dream we shall. This project is all hands on deck. A crowd-sourced, crowd-funded, crowd-produced movement. We all have jobs, though my personal goal is to focus as much time on this as I can, since travel will be limited with the new baby arriving in April. I'll still shoot some client stuff, but want to focus much energy to writing, creating, and eventing in Restoration Club.
Many are asking how to help. So grateful! Danny, Dave, myself and the rest of the crew can’t do it alone. The greatest initial support is through prayer. Sharing any content and posts is awesome! We are about to release some merch, so snag yourself and a buddy something. Sign up for an event, which will be launching soon! We will eventually have a non-profit arm for those wanting to support financially. We are still accepting donations, and will be releasing some membership options soon that will help fund the project! We appreciate everyone of you! Let’s do this. - Jeff Marsh, co-founder
